Initial Underwriting

Once your offer is accepted, underwriting begins. The underwriter evaluates the property, title, and the documents you provided to determine final approval and a list of any remaining conditions. This can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks.

While in underwriting, keep things stable: avoid major bank movements, new credit applications, financing new furniture or appliances, or changing jobs.

A few items handled during underwriting

  • Appraisal
  • Updated title
  • Escrow amounts
  • Loan payoffs and any property liens
  • Taxes
  • HOA paperwork
